as a horror fan, this was such a fun book to read!! i loved margaret within the first five pages, and it was so cool to see a genuinely unique main character in a haunted house novel. also loved that it provided commentary on some heavier topics without becoming pedantic or weird — kind of reminded me of the babadook in a way??
