This book was a fast read. I loved it. I wasn’t a fan of the ending, but it worked. I loved the mix of supernatural with trauma. I found it well done.
The September House by Carissa Orlando is a haunted house story with teeth—and blood. Lots of blood. While it leaned a little predictable in parts (and maybe gave me serious AHS: Murder House vibes - did this start as fanfic?), I had such a good time with this one. The pacing was snappy, the horror was delightfully unhinged, and the ending wrapped things up in a satisfying, if slightly chaotic, bow.
Was I suspicious of every character from chapter 9 onward? Yes.
Did I question Eddie’s entire existence by chapter 15? Also yes.
Did I get A Beautiful Mind’d? Possibly.
It didn’t quite have that one spark of something totally unique, but honestly? I had a blast. A bloody, ghosty, wild little blast.
