The title is a bit of a misnomer, as the book really covers the career of George Romero and the various zombie films that have risen (pun intended) from his seminal movie. It's written in a friendly, chatty style, and there's a lot of good information about Romero's various films. Kane (here writing under his real name, not his "Phantom of the Movies" pseudonym) can't help but be opinionated about the plusses and minuses of the various films, but he has an obvious love of the material, and Romero especially. There are several chapters that look at the behind-the-scenes workings of Romero's most popular zombie films, and to top it all off, an early treatment of the titular film is included. Well done, but there's nothing here to convert those who don't quite "get" Romero's work. Still, I found a lot to enjoy.

Less about Night Of The Living Dead as a neat monograph on Romero's career as a whole. Nice overview of the zombie genre as a whole. Only a few odd omissions about Night Of The Living Dead itself (like what sent its budget from low five figures to mid six figures) keep it from earning five stars.
