I was not sure what to expect with the references to Shakespeare but was interested. I had a hard time getting into the story of the book. At the beginning I was confused and bored. The plot jumped around a lot at first it felt like which made it hard for me to follow. Later in the book I was able to follow along better and enjoyed it enough to keep reading but it still felt like a chore sometimes. Another drawback for me was the language used- but I know that is a personal preference and I understand why it was used in certain situations. I did enjoy watching as characters became less selfish in some cases and more so in others. It was well put together and kept style the entire time but it just was not the right book for me.

Really cleverly written, and the hardback book design is beautiful with lovely endpapers full of squirrels.

Percentage approximate.

I do not enjoy spending time with this protagonist. I suspect he might be more tolerable beginning with book 1 of the series, but I have things higher on my priority list to read.

DID NOT FINISH

Paused after Chapter 2 (page 21).

Is this the best book I've read this year? No

Is it the best Midsummer Night's Dream retelling? Also No

But it is the best raunchy, messed up, Shakespeare based murder mystery loaded with complete nonsense, fuckery, monkeys, squirrels, sexual innuendos and about 600 new words for penis? Abso-fucking-lutely!

This was a bit hard to get into because it makes no sense whatsoever but it's fun, lewd and kind of hilarious. I can't count the times I laughed out loud.

I'm definitely a Pocket fan and need to go back and read all about his earlier adventures. Hoping there will be more to come!
