Nope. Can't finish it. The behaviors of both MC and ML are so juvenile, it cannot be justified or be believable enough for me. Again 25 yo behaving as if teenagers. If anything, both older brothers of MC and ML were a little believable but even then just a scratch.
I don't know why people are raving and reccomending this, giving it 5 stars and all.
Another let down.

So, after reading the amazing Big Bad Wolf series. I wanted to take a little break from a serious series, and I feel like every single book I've read since has just paled in comparison. And I don't know if it's because the Big Bad Wolf series is so amazing that everything sucks after it or if I'm just picking terrible books.
After having just read For The Fans (also disappointing) , which did a lot of build-up in the beginning to sort of set the stage for the relationship - going into this one, there is absolutely no build up. We get a little bit of a fight, but within like the first couple of chapters, we already have the scenario that brings these two together.
This book is a cautionary tale of "show don't tell" because everything is told to us. Things happen off-screen a lot, and I feel like everything is just monologing. Like....why don't we show Devon's pov with his dad? Why not show Maddox punching Devon's dad? Why is everything just like being told to us?
Otherwise, this book was pretty juvenile, and I just found myself bummed about the potential. They both start going through a gay crisis like immediately just because they see each other hard....like what? They're 25! I'm not saying you can be too old to discover new things about yourself but...come on
Things I liked: Devon's brother calling him out and then leaving.
honestly, it's not the worst thing I've read, but I just didn't want to waste my time reading another mediocre book. It's always a bummer when one of these massive recs with hundreds of 5 🌟 reviews is a letdown.

Really really fun read. Love Madd and Devon. Lots of character depth, great plot. Balance of heavy material with humor and love. Totally absorbed by it.
Wasn’t 5 stars cause some of the writing was a bit repetitive or demotic: “he got bigger, he toned, he got stronger, he had more of a 6 pack.” Description of Madd at the end when he started the construction job. Aren’t the first three kinds the same? Similar other situations to that throughout the book.

This book was everything I wanted it to be, and more. Who doesn’t love a good enemies to lovers? But what’s even better is when the same tension and hostility between the two MCs is still there after they become lovers. Ahh soo good! I loved how complex and different their relationship was, and I loved the immediate chemistry I felt between the two. And Nate and Xavi being their cheerleaders from the sidelines just made it all the better!
