A spicy good time!
The speeches and inner monologues got a bit repetitive but the setting and fighting made it special.
I don't really feel the need to read book 2 though. It doesn't leave off on a cliffhanger.

This book was so frustrating!
There's several small plot holes (one example is when Devon notes that Maddox and Xavi are sitting outside their trailer when he and Nate drive past. He spends time with Nate continously until Nate drives him to the cabin. Once there Nate says he drove Xavi up there earlier and Devin accepts that? How does that make sense? And there's a couple of times something like that happens but I cba to list them all).
The MCs are also supposed to be 25, be dirt poor, and deal with parents that have addictions, mental health problems and/or are abusive and yet they lack a lot of maturity. It would make more sense if at the start of the book they are 17/18 perhaps and mature over the course of a year or two into the relationship they end up having.
It's also never explained why they started to hate eacher other. There's a throwaway line that they used to be friends until I think age 10 and that Devon's father encouraged the rivalry but that's not really an explanation? At least, not for the level of animosity they display.
If these issues were rectified it could easily be a 4 or 5* book. There's a lot of fun in their fighting, and I enjoyed Xavi and Nate's relationship as well.

My only issue with this book, and the reason it’s getting four stars instead of five, is that the MCs felt a lot younger than they were supposed to be. Like maybe 18/19 - not 25. That said, it was a spicy good time and I really enjoyed it.
4⭐️ This was really a great book. Enemies to lovers, only one bed, “who hurt you”, possessive/jealous vibes. It was real and raw and swoon-worthy.
It wasn’t exactly my personal vibe since I don’t really like the aggressive, beating the crap out of each other as a form of affection… but I recognize that as a personal thing and could look past it to see that this book is a whole ass force to reckon with.
If you love aggressive enemies to lovers, this is perfect.
My one real critique was that the characters seemed/acted like teenagers. It was quite unbelievable that they were 25. But again, it didn’t ruin the story for me.

The fact that they are perfect for each other’s don’t fit in my mind

Maddox and Devon are long term enemies who both live in a trailer park and race motorcross. Until one night they kiss and shortly after that, Devon’s dad almost kills him and he shows up at Maddox’s looking for his brother (their older brothers are BFFs) and thrir relationship changes. They are both irrational, violent, and emotionally stunted but I loved them anyway. This was surprisingly well written and an affecting read. Excellent sex scenes.
