Unfortunately, I found the story to be a little simple (though I really loved the premise!) and the characters, unfortunately, came across as “flat.” The two MCs just didn’t click with me, and I had a hard time “feeling” them in the story. This also made the relationship between them feel kind of forced, perhaps because their underlying emotions weren’t really given any space (besides their feelings of anger and rage). If this very mono-emotional focus was an intentional stylistic choice by the author, I would have loved to also see a clear focus from the characters on this lack of space for other emotions, rather than just an omission of it. This made the characters one-dimensional to me, which made it difficult to feel and understand their inner life, relationship, and connection.

Rivals to lovers, but still rivals. So good!
There's definitely a thin line between love and hate for Devon and Maddox. But seriously, this story was so good. Two motocross racers from a trailer park who both have their own family issues to deal with, money struggles and, oh yeah, they hate each other. Like literally physically fight each other. Their story was great, definitely a true rivals to lovers.
Of course they have their HEA but it's not without some struggles.
