Tom Lake is a beautifully written story, weaving between past and present, telling a moving story about a mother’s journey through young adulthood and how it still impacts her, or maybe doesn’t, today. I liked the characters, the reveals, and really appreciated the ending. It left me with an appreciation for the ways we change through our lives. Meryl Streep narrating made the book even better!

Such a beautiful book. Smatterings of deep reflections on life change dispersed through a gentle summer story. It made me think back to reading Laura Ingalls Wilder with the descriptions of daily life with family. I found some of the characters a little superficial however to develop them further would lose the flow of the story. I can understand why to some people this book could be boring and difficult to relate to but for me it was just perfect.

I would recommend this to any one but especially to anyone my age (20) who has big dreams but is unsure where life is taking them. It is a book I want to tab and highlight and refer back to when I am feeling unsure.
