A reread for the summer that I loved even more the second time around. Ann Patchett's writing makes me want to keep reading, but also forces me to put the book down when she aims for the gut and scores. Not really a love story, but a story about love of many kinds -- I can tell that Tom Lake will be one of those books I keep returning to for a while.

Listening to Meryl Streep read this was AN AWAKENING.

I was resistant to reading this book despite the lovely cover because I didn't want to read anything that mentioned the pandemic, but I'm so glad I did. The storytelling was great and I love the depth of the characters, past and present.

Listening to this book made me want to have children, even though she talks about the good and the horrible parts of being a mother. Fantastic book. Felt very cozy.

This book is so beautiful, I don’t really know how to describe it. What a gift to tell stories and to love deeply.
