I am happy that I listened to Meryl Streep read it to me through an audiobook because I didn't really care for this book... I think if I knew the play that the author kept referencing I would have appreciated this book more. SO if you love Our Town, this book is for you.

Veronica had such a small part in the story and I still loved her more than everyone at Tom Lake put together. She stayed with me after the rest of them had faded, maybe because we remember the me people we hurt so much mroe clearly than the people who hurt us.
It was years later that Joe told me how he'd thought his heart would stop when he saw Duke there in the middle of the road, holding Emily.

This rating is specifically only for the audiobook. I'm sorry but Meryl Streep was so freaking good. Could listen to this for 10 hours more.

Have you ever been reading a book, and you like it a lot, then you come to a sentence, or paragraph, or a specific part and you fall in love with the story? That is exactly what happened for me around page 161. Everything fell into place and I knew there would be bad things that would happen, but it was going to work out just as it should.
