I'd rate this higher, but my experience is with the audiobook, and it's awful. The female narrator deep breathes so much it's in the middle of sentences and after. There were a couple times I was pretty sure she gasped for breath. The male narrator does this weird girly giggle on almost every sentence that just doesn't need to be there and was cringey. The story itself was pretty adorable. I hate Valentine's Day and had hoped this to be the cute little story for a "holiday" that doesn't validate itself with me. The audio ruined the experience but may find time to pick up the ebook and try again. After forgetting the voices of the audiobook. I wish I didn't buy the audible book đź«

“People don’t always let us become who we are. They try to keep us in the box of who we were.”

After a rather comical run in at the local coffee shop in Loveland, local chef and restaurant owner, Poppy Hart, and bad boy pro hockey star, Dallas Burke, are talked into fake dating each other to help both of their struggling reputations. It’s just a few weeks, a few dates and some PDA, what’s the harm in that?

I absolutely adored Poppy and Dallas and all of the supporting characters that came along with them…with the exception of the town bully, Margot. There were so many tender moments between Poppy and Dallas and watching them grow separately and together put the biggest smile on my face. Dallas may be a famous sports star, but he was so down to earth and such a good match for the socially awkward Poppy! Was this your typical fake dating trope? Definitely, but it was so fun to read and go along on the journey with these two!

I'm not sure I have adequate words for how much I loved @courtneywalsh 's latest. This book releases on Valentine's Day but you can pre-order now. Link in bio!

This book has so many wonderful aspects. Usually the fake dating trope will include a bunch of messy stuff I hate, but Walsh didn't do that to us. I loved the pro hockey player hero, Dallas, so much. And his fake girlfriend, Poppy, is wonderful too.

This book is by no means heavy and will definitely make you laugh, but it does have some fantastic depth to it. I love that both characters are working through some things from their pasts that show some great character growth opportunities. I also loved how well these two communicated and how they each had strong family relationships too.

I have to say I really loved the friendship that developed in this book between Dallas and Poppy as they fake dated. I loved how they spent time together and got to know each other. It all felt so genuine.

I highly recommend this if you like fake dating, a series about sisters, hockey players, fun meet cutes, strong women, and small towns.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
