A retelling and reimagining of the Trojan War, told from the perspective of some of the women of Troy.

This one is a bit long, but it is SO good. I was enamored by the characters, each of whom were beautifully rendered and deeply fascinating. Andromache, in particular, is a figure I have never paid much attention to in myth but that I really enjoyed here, both in her own right and in her relationship with Hector.

As a lifelong horse-girl, I also loved the horses here (and Rhea’s interactions with them) and appreciated the role they played throughout the story. Finally, the action really picked up towards the final third of the book, and I was on the edge of my metaphorical seat to see what would happen and where everything would end up. I cannot WAIT for the sequel, DAUGHTERS OF BRONZE, which is coming in November!

If you enjoy myths and retellings, I highly recommend this one! The audiobook itself was also excellent and I liked all of the narrators!

CW: Death/war/violence/blood; sexual violence; physical abuse; grief; pregnancy/infidelity

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This was really interesting and a solid retelling. I haven’t read a ton of Trojan-centric retellings, mostly Greek, so this was an intriguing spin with three really powerful FMCs. I didn’t think I’d have beef with one of Homer’s characters but Paris and I need to have a CHAT, let me tell you. Big thank you to @adrhine_author for the signed copy!!

I really liked how the book flowed between the three points of view of Andromache, Helen, and Rhea. I felt like Helen got lost at times in the story, but I think that was the point, particularly with what she’s going through. It was such an empowering story, Andromache and Rhea’s courage and grit in particular.

It flowed in this really beautiful way between the three perspectives.. a way that often gave you two view points of a story without feeling like you were ever moving backwards. It felt effortless. I loved the first person point of view and felt like they captured the unique view point and personality of each woman. I feel like this book will stick with me and I’ll continue to think about it. I found it on a fluke in the bookstore and I’m not sure what I expected initially but I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved looking inside Greek life and in particular how they portrayed the change of things (and how some things will always remain the same). The highlight was the empowerment of all three women and the strength they drew from each other and the other women of Troy. I appreciated how realistic the relationship between Helen and Andromache was - forgiveness not easily granted, particularly after the trauma they both faced. Definitely a must read for anyone who enjoys Greek mythology.
