I absolutely loved this book! Such a great read if you’re into the Odessa and Iliad; told from the perspective of the unheard voices, the women who are apart of this epic tale. I probably would have given it a higher rating if I remembered the stories better, but now this gives me a reason to reread these great tales. Definitely worth a read if you love mythology.

man the different chapters really varied this for me. hated penelope's chapters but some of the others were really well done
I am loving this refocusing of ancient stories to shine the light on the experience of women.
It does jump around a bit between past and present (which made it slightly confusing listening to it) but I think that would be inevitable with all the women discussed. I thoroughly enjoyed Penelope's sassy letters to her much-delayed husband. The Trojan women personified the brutality and horrors of war, especially for those left behind. I wish there had been more sections on Gaia, though to be far that could have been a separate book! The desperation of the Earth being drained and consumed is very prescient and her solution is especially chilling given that I'm reading this in the 3rd year of a world pandemic. (sigh)
