Excellent! Made me think of "The Goonies". xxx

First of all, I've just got to say it, this was a huge Goonies rip off. Now, I'm not saying this is a bad book, and I think she even makes a reference to the movie at one point, but really, it was Goonies. The kids are all going to have to move away from each other and they have a chance to save their homes by finding a pirate treasure.

And while we're on the subject, Tory is just a bitch. She believes that because she thinks it should be done it doesn't matter how it gets done and everyone should follow suit and do it with her. Legal or not. She believes everyone should just bow down to her whims, she lies to her friends, acts like a spoiled brat to her father and uses anyone she sees fit. She has absolutely no respect for anyone but herself. She's constantly rewarded for her crappy behavior and attitude. When it comes to female heroines she's the absolute worst.

It's obvious that Kathy Reichs doesn't normally write for teens. She's toned down the science talk. Enough that you're not lost in technical information, but not so much that she's saying 'readers are dumb' which is nice. But she doesn't quite have a grasp on how 14 year-olds operate. They're all sort of caricatures of teenagers.

With all that being said, Seizure is a good book. It's exciting and suspenseful with that bit of adventure thrown in for those who want a little more bite with their YA reads.

My 15 year old son read this one without reading the first Virals book and he really enjoyed it, so much so, he now has the next 2 books and looking forward to reading those too.

Did not disappoint me at all! Fantastic read!

I really liked this book. The characters got even better, and I forgot more of the plot so it was more fun to read again. Nothing beats a pirate treasure hunt.

3.5 ⭐️

Trigger warnings: violence, mentions of murder, description of dead bodies
Content warning: biphobia, racism

Definitely not the best Virals novel, but still good.

The action in this second opus is a bit over the top. And when I say “a bit”, I kinda mean “a lot”... The whole pirate treasure thing is already a stretch, but the amount of people after them was way too much. Only counting the ones who seriously risked the Virals safety, that’s 5 people. And that doesn’t include other greedy people connected to them. I feel like Reichs over complicated this story for the sake of having more to tell.

Because in the end, this second novel just isn’t all that interesting. There were a few inconsistencies once again blurring the place this series hold in the Temperance Brennan world that could have easily been corrected in editing.

I appreciated the development with Chance and the pack’s powers, which sets the atmosphere for the next books. Apart from that, it’s really not my favourite Virals book.

Not quite as good as the first of he series, but are they ever? (answer is yes, harry potter) but still an enjoyable, quick, summer read! :)

3 words: I love pirates!

Once again I am blown away at how much I love this book. This must be my 3rd or 4th or 5th time reading it- who knows? Yet every time I do I love it even more! This is probably one of my favourite in the series- I love it so much. Honestly, this and pirates of the Caribbean is where my obsession with pirates truly began!

Probably my favourite in the series.
