Cute! If a bit mellow. As a WOC herself it's only to be expected that Nalini Singh integrates racial diversity and all its attachments into her books, and it was especially well done here.

I really liked Tazia and Stefan makes me cry with his history. I do have some Feelings about how Tazia makes some comments that come across as “you’ll find the right man one day” near the beginning that felt erasive of ace/aro and lesbian identities, but other than that I really enjoyed this short story. I wish there was more cuz I really liked these characters and especially loved seeing Tazia reconnect with her family.

My twin sister has been telling me to read this series for years and despite liking the other Nalini Singh's I had read I never got around to reading it. After reading these books I can't imagine why I hesitated to read them ; they are really good. The story is fresh and original, the writing style is engaging and the characters are so well written that you truly get invested in their lives. I have enjoyed all the books in this series psy, changeling and human as they are all fascinating in their own way.
