This started slow, but got much better towards the middle. The language used was hard to understand at times, not just the dialogue, but what the author was trying to convey.

This was quite the enjoyable read, after a delightful, fun discovery: the book was mentioned several times in [b:Gilead|68210|Gilead (Gilead, #1)|Marilynne Robinson|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1451555787s/68210.jpg|2481792], as a favorite of two of the characters, and when I looked it up and found that it is a real book, I decided to read it myself. I'm so glad I did.

Read this book for my Appalachian Literature class. I genuinely did enjoy the story a lot, but I wish June's perspective near the end would've been touched on a bit more. Still a good read.
