I listened to this book on audio, which was well-done. Despite feeling annoyed at the naiveté of the main character, Bruno, I did want to keep listening. The audio version ended with an interview with the author, which answered to the criticism readers had shared. The author shared that he wanted to use a juxtaposition of Bruno's innocence with the horror of a concentration camp. He also wanted to share this perspective to show how ignorance and complacency of society could allow such an event as the Holocaust to happen. I appreciated the book more after hearing from the author and would encourage other readers to seek out this interview.

WOW.
This book broke me in 5 minutes.
What an innocent way to explain one of the most horrific times in our history.

This should be required reading for all students who don’t think we’re headed back in this direction during the current political climate thanks to the MAGA cult and their extreme racism.

Lewat The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas kita disadarkan tentang betapa kejinya manusia.

the boy in the striped pajamas is story about a boy,Bruno who leaves Berlin to live in "out-wit" during world war 2 .
He makes an unlikely ally from the other side of the fence.
the only reason i didn't give 5 stars is that it was very short story that i finished in a couple of hours and wanted to read more about the talks bruno and his friend had.
I also wanted to know more about what exactly was bruno's dad's job.

♥️

This is my second time reading 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' and there's no doubt that it's just as compelling as the first time I read it. I think telling the story through the eyes of the innocent and unknowledgeable Bruno truly conveys the horrific and inhumane realities of the Holocaust... it made such a simple story so thought provoking and moving.

It was good, but sad because the parents never really knew what happened to Bruno.
