This book was so dry, it put me into a slump for a whole week.

I had a hard time rating this book. Sometimes, I would've given it a 5 stars (aka all the Eadlyn and Erik moments) and sometimes I was just so annoyed with the writing style and the characters. But it is quite an easy read (hence why I read the selection series a book a day) and they are quite short too. The story is 'okay' but not spectacular. BUT I'm the happiest person on earth because she ended up with the person I wanted her to end up with!

DNF. Read ~60% and then decided not to waste more time. Didn’t even like the previous The Heir book. Should’ve just left it at book 3. Bored. Too woke? Perhaps I am too old to understand the appeal of this book. Tedious annoying characters and no romance. The writing is lazy and plot is predictable.

I really have not been enjoying the sequel series. However, I did like the ending, which I am glad I did because otherwise, I think I would have been sad to have spent my time reading the books to get to this point.

My complaint: Story is meh and the writing is also not super compelling (it is a light read though). It almost felt like the end was determined and all that lead to it, from #4 was thought up to finally get to the conclusion.

Everyone clap for me, I made it through TWO Eadlyn POV books. The number of times I said “oh my god, shut up” while reading this book was approximately 573. But yippee for happily ever afters for everyone (
except Celeste lol rip you big ol bitch ily
)✨

This book was so bittersweet. While I didn’t always love the main character I was still invested in all of them. At the end of this book some major changes happen and it just made me happy for the futures of everyone. This was such a good series. Highly recommend.

I did not think this would be possible, but the Crown surpasse the Selection and is now in my top reads of this year, and maybe of my top 10 of all time.
