I enjoyed this book a lot — and put it up there as an important one.
Recommend this for anyone working the world of economic development and poverty alleviation. While this may not be the perfect model (or maybe it is? Time will tell), we must think about boundaries and sustainability with new economic paradigms. Otherwise we will end up in a Global Monopoly game — with a single winner left standing in the ruins of a completely used up planet.

Raworth's ideas are provocatively and clearly presented; they offer a perspective on economics that doesn't often come across in mainstream policy discussions. I think her key idea - and the one that I found most compelling - is that, in order to foster a sustainable society and alleviate poverty, we need to move away from GDP as a bottom line for public policy. Raworth discusses how we can move into the 'Doughnut' (the sweet spot for both Earth and its people) from 7 main angles. Though I found her ideas intriguing and her evidence convincing, I finished the book wishing, perhaps unreasonably, for more answers - a global transformation of the scale that Raworth suggests is unprecedented and will inevitably have unforeseen effects. The writing itself wasn't particularly engaging for me, but I think Doughnut Economics is easily accessible and worth reading for its innovative big-picture view.

Eye opening and mind blowing.
For an untrained student of economics, the book provides a remarkable insight into the principles of economics theory. The book suggests an alternative to the steady growth principle being adhered to by all the central bankers/governments of the day.“To what end? “ is question that needs to be more widely discussed in the different think tanks around the world. The global prosperity divide is increasingly telling us that economic model is deeply flawed and the time is nigh for a complete rethink of our assumptions so far.As the book tells us , we might be the last generation to be able to make an impact on the liveability of the only habitable environment that we know of.Must read !
