I can’t believe how good this book was! It takes a lot to get me to cry and MK definitely made me cry in a section of this book. Elywena she is my hero! With all the things she put up with growing up. Choosing between two men and becoming a baddie was so awesome to read . Those steamy scenes were fire! I love the Viking and Norse culture in this book. Now the end I definitely need book 2 asap . And last but not least you definitely need to pick this baby up and read it !

DNF'ed at 80% when we got to the part
Spoiler where Cwen was killed. Despite a chapter earlier when the FMC was musing about the fact that she knows literally nothing about Cwen despite the fact that the woman raised her, she was DISTRAUGHT by the death and spiraled into a whole funk. Literally to the point where she was in a fight and said "kill me, I don't care." Like...girlfriend. You know nothing about this woman who has RAISED YOU and who's fault is that?!?! And now you're going to pretend that your life can simply not go on without her??

Idk, some of the writing was a little awkward, I didn't really care about any of the characters. Scratch that, the two maybe-gay women subplot characters were far more interesting than any of the main characters. Timelines were a little wonky, pacing was weird throughout.

It was fine, it was more or less entertaining, I just wasn't here for the FMC going on about a woman she barely knew and decided to just cut my losses.

So Amazing!

I have been in a book slump for a while nothing was holding my attention. I picked up this book because it was different and I'm so glad I did! I was sucked in from the very beginning I loved how the author made the FMC a strong warrior. I hope we see more of her strength in the next book.

I got this for free as part of Stuff Your Kindle Day. You know those pranks where someone wraps a series of progressively smaller boxes inside of one big one, so you keep opening each smaller box hoping that this one'll be the one that has the present that you wanted, but when you finally open the last box, it's just a tiny bit of nothing if not outright empty? That's what reading this felt like. I kept hoping there'd be some nugget of goodness like the storyline or just something I could bite my teeth into, but alas. The amateurish prose just led to inconsistent characters, clunky exposition, choppy sentences, anachronistic dialog, and much more. On top of its heavy use of tropes—e.g. an overpowered heroine (who somehow still ends up a damsel in distress) with a gaggle of guys all in insta-love with her—just made for an unengaging read. I'll still probably read the second book since it's just the one and I am apparently an optimist. Here's to hoping...

I absolutely loved this book. I have been struggling a bit in my personal life and this was a great escape for a bit. It was a little confusing at first because of the different vocabulary but she puts the list of words with their meanings at the beginning of the book. Once I got all the terms down which didn't taken long, I couldn't put it down until it was finished. I've also never read Norse books but I'm going to from now on thanks to this book. If you're ok with all the trigger warnings then I definitely recommend this book.

What a great story that flowed until the end and there were some very hot sex scenes. The plot kept you in knots and left us in a cliff hanger. Second book hurry up!

Ah where to start. DNF'd at 80% because I could not bring myself to care. The guys are two-dimensional and not that interesting. The leading lady is a mary sue if I ever saw one. Becomes a powerful warrior strong enough to beat the Jarl after a few months of training? Also secretly a powerful witch? Favored by Freya even though she isn't norse? And everyone falls in love with her instantly even when she doesn't do anything? Also, she starts killing in battle and has no reaction to it and gets upset about things for like two paragraphs then is magically over it. Poor writing.

The one thing I found interesting was the backflips the author did to try and make the horrible aspects of ancient norse culture not that bad (all the r*ping, murdering, and human sacrifice).

I got an advanced ARC ebook of this for an honest review.
I've honestly never really been into books about the Norse God's or that type of mythology, BUT when I read what it was about and the plot, I just had to pick it up, so I did. I also finished it in a day. Sad. Because this book was amazing, I wish I had of taken my time and read it over multiple days so I could just let it settle in my brain. Sadly I didn't but there is always book 2.
I rated it a 4 only because the a few chapters had repeate paragraphs, but that's what editing is for so I'm sure that will be fixed.
The storyline was very well done, the character building was just *chefs kiss*. World building was also very good, I'm a firm believer in rereading books and this is definitely one I'd reread once they are all out.
All in all it was a very well written book!
