Hector is a really quick read, but it is a really great book! Its about a man who is on a journey to see if he can figure out the recipe to happiness. Written in a really fun and lighthearted way that keeps you turning the pages. Cute story.
eh. It was a fictional version of The Geography of Bliss, and not even a fraction as good.
Easy to digest and some grand thought-provoking ideas around happiness. This is a 20 year old+ book, culturally a little insensitive at times and maybe more for the male perspective. However, I thought it was an honest journey of someone learning who they are and what it entails to be happy. Learning maybe to be less ignorant of the world and explore different ways of life. It was also a perfect depiction of what it means to be an imperfect human. Reality. I thought it is an amazing, feel good tale with some reflective qualities for the reader. Also, it is translated work so simple language and to the point.
I wanted to love this book, it had moments of huge potential but it was ruined by a lack of detail and a succumbing mediocrity.
Not as cute as I thought it might be, though a very quick, easy, light read.

An impulse purchase made because 1) the cover caught my eye and 2) the back cover blurb intrigued me, Hector and the Search for Happiness is novel and a children's book and a self-help book, all rolled into one. Overall it was an enjoyable read (and a quick one), though sometimes the storybook style of the narration became a bit too much and I had to put it down. Still, Hector's lessons are simple yet wise, and are worth remembering.
