An incredibly well-done version of Black Flag, seamlessly merging a slightly altered version of the game’s events with an amazing modern day storyline that rivals the best of Desmond’s trilogy. Excellent artwork and some very clever changes to the game events that make more sense as manga.

They kinda added a key detail about the animus that isn’t true to the actual Canon of the games but I still liked it.

3,5 Sterne.

Es sind ein paar Dinge anders als im Spiel, was den Manga aber interessant macht. Jetzt habe ich definitiv wieder Lust, Black Flag weiterzuspielen!

Somewhat interesting, it's more a summary of Black Flag than anything else. The modern day aspect of it is interesting, another data point in the AC world building, but very very short. I don't know if people who didn't play the game will get much out of it. For me it was a nice nostalgia trip.

I bought this for my middle and high school class. I read it before putting it on the shelf... just in case. There were a couple boobies I had to "put a bikini top on" but it was great story. If any my kids pick it up and are into it, I'll definitely look into getting the second book.

To many problems with this one. It weird that suddenly Edward is not connected to Desmond, instead he is an ancestor of a Japanese teenager. Well, maybe he once visited Japan with his pirate ship…
However, that’s something I can still accept but not the rest. Edward is so unsympathetic, unfriendly in the manga. It’s a completely different character, compared to the video game. And for a main protagonist he is not the cocky ant-hero type, he is simple an [insert rude description]. Likewise, the storytelling. The pro/antagonists are telling the story to the reader, that’s not how good storytelling works. And the art is bad too, the quality varies in every pannel. There is no explicit style of drawing noticeable. It’s like their where in a big hurry. For something that’s an official Ubisoft product, I expected more quality.

DNF at 60% because…let's say the portrayal of Adewale is "major yikes" territory.
