Bullet Review:
This one is mostly backstory - also a random “joke” about periods, an almost rape, and zombies pissing in buckets and trying to retrieve hamsters.

it felt like this should’ve been to first volume as it basically gives the backstory of the two main groups of characters. however this backstory is given in a long exposition speech, which is not my favourite way of doing it. maybe I’ve just got used to the art or maybe it does still slightly getting better but i no longer despise it. also, forced romance plot line between two characters that have barely spoken because the author can use this in the future for character motivation ha ha ha yes.

The Boys continues with another solid edition, with some great shots yet again. Scene where the Seven board a hijacked plane is a particular highlight. The plots are more backstory and as the title goes, good for the soul, as characters open up and cast off some of their demons.

I like the way Hughie and Annie found together.
I also liked the fact that you can revive supes.

The third volume of the Boys gives some backstory to what the character's motives are. Heavy on exposition it can be interesting at times but mostly it reads like a constant flashback.

I continue to tolerate Ennis's insistence on brutal sexuality as I read through this series in anticipation of the upcoming show. Perhaps I should not. What is it about a certain variety of doughy white writers that makes them believe the way to convey the "grittiness" of their work is to fill it will sexual violence?

I liked this volume much better than volume 2. Possibly because it had more of the backstory and the Frenchman. But the Frenchman is a NY Rangers fan?!?! That was a turn off for me, being from Philadelphia area : )
