“I will gladly meet you in the penalty box any day”
Meet Me in the Penalty Box is the first book in Cali Melle’s new Orchid Beach series. It was a great introduction to the new series and I am so excited to see how the rest of the series plays out and who the couples will be!

Harper Jensen has just arrived in town for a new job with a NHL team as photographer but before it starts decides to go out with a new work friend. Harper winds up meeting a guy there and they hit it off immediately but they don’t exchange names. Fast forward to her first day of work and her mystery guy is none other than NHL Rookie Nico Cirone. Naturally they couldn’t date because of the teams policy.

“I was officially fucked by Nico Cirone and he hadn’t even fully touched me yet.”

I loved Nico and Harper. Nico fell so hard so fast. He became instantly protective of her and it was something she never really had before. Harper was also so supportive of him and just wanted the best. I loved them!

The excerpt at the end for The Lie of Us made me want to know Kai and Winter now!

This book gave me the biggest ick. I actually found myself making faces and cringing while reading it. From the spelling errors (including the names of characters), to the lack of personality and character development, it was just really hard to get through. I still know nothing about these characters and don’t understand how they have any feelings for each other. I would have DNF, but I kept hoping there would be something that could make me change my mind. I don’t think I could handle Nico calling Harper “Love” one more time. Don’t waste your time with this one.

i thought i’d end up giving this two stars but i can’t.

aside from nico calling her “love” in every sentence, the editing was so bad. why did i need to know TWICE in the prologue that nico was drinking the same thing as wes? i also don’t even think the actual cocktail was named.

harper would have never been able to skate in wes’s skates???

the exboyfriend drama was so boring.

bookstagram failed me on this one.
