I DNF this book at like 53%, I just was not feeling it at all. It moved way too quick and the guy started calling the lady “love” like 2 chapters in.

This was not a good book. The pacing, the plot, and the characters were all terrible.
this book was kinda boring. there is nothing going on outside the two main characters. the two main characters didn’t have much background info. like the girl had an ex bf that wasn’t good. but you don’t hear about her family. ever. she has one friend in this book and a photography job. you don’t get much more info for her. the guys mom passed away and has 2 friends and a sister and a dad that is absent. the book just wasn’t interesting

It’s cute. That sums it up. It was a lot shorter than what I thought it would be. There is a sudden plot point then it is immediately resolved and all done. A lot of the plot points are “oh no this happened” then immediately followed by “it’s all good it’s fixed now”. Things could have been drawn out for tension. This book is really sweet. It reminds me of both Icebreaker and Wildfire by Hannah Grace so if you like them then this is absolutely a recommendation.

lowkey disappointed though… wanted to read a fun hockey romance, because they’re my fav of course, but this book just wasn’t quite it. the whole thing was just a bit cringe, nico especially.
also the random car crash was so unnecessary - it felt so wattpad, like in a bad way. there was so many other more logical ways that their secret relationship could’ve been exposed. if just felt weird.

I wasn't a fan of Nico and his "trust me, i got this" attitude while doing absolutely nothing to take measures or action to address Harper's concerns and hesitancy towards becoming a couple. It especially felt worse when both Harper and his sister told him that it wouldn't be fair to Harper when sh*t hit the fan because of the imbalanced power dynamic between them (him being a hockey player & her being a photographer for the organization) and all he kept doing was saying "quit your job i'll take care of you). Her growing disinterest in sports photography felt like it came out mid-book to make up for the fact that she would then be "happy" about getting fired.
Overall, I wasn't a fan of Nico and Harper but I did love his sister so I want to give the next book a shot with her story. I'm hoping I like the pacing and story development of the next books better!
