This is my favorite Hemingway book by far! Of the 4 I’ve read. This book is so matter of fact and simple. But the writing is so rich and poignant. The relationship between the old man and the boy makes you root for both of them. Then the relationship between the old man and the fish. This is a story of humility, respect, hope and perseverance. But also a story of futility, adversity and acceptance. To me, this story is a reminder of how little one really needs in life to be content and how we occupy ourselves day after day with things and thoughts that don’t really matter.

This was definitely a classic book! I really liked the story, however the ending was somewhat disappointing even if it was realistic. Overall, a great book and a beautiful story!
