neil gaiman definitely has a certain style he writes with and i love it. so much whimsy and imagination. he knows how to capture the mind and creativity of a kid.

i really enjoyed coraline. i love the movie, but shockingly never read the book.

it is creepy and more eerie than the film. and for once, i dont think the book is better than the movie! i think they are both wonderful in their respective forms. i just wish i read it closer to spooky season

I just saw this on the shelf at Waterstones and just had to buy it! I've loved the film ever since i was a child and wanted to read the original. The reason it only got 4 stars is because of the differences between them both. I read this book in one sitting, and will be re-reading.

I know they added Wybie because Coraline has a lot of internal dialogue and they wanted her to have a friend to speak to in the movie, but i just missed him while reading! Apart from that, it was still very eerie and i loved it overall.

I actually loved the plot when the other father tries to get her in the basement of the other flat because that meant Coraline got all of the souls and her parents by herself. I know her dad gives her his gear stick in the film, but i really liked the books version. The scene was incredibly creepy and my heart saddens for Coraline as it must of been scary for her being a young child.

Overall, I enjoyed reading the book and thought it was an easy read. It was easier to remember the plot to this versus the movie. I liked Coraline a lot more over time. It was more on the horror side than I thought it would be.

Very creepy, which I really enjoyed. Coraline (what a cool name) was such an awesome heroine.
