I'd like to start off with some issues that I have: certain jokes made me quite uncomfortable and it seems the author has some tendencies to pull a Murakami. In addition, the protagonist (Dai) can be some what insufferable at times. Qualms aside, I must say that from first hearing about it to reading the first few chapters online, I knew that this would be the first manga that I'd want to own a physical copy of.
Perhaps it was the itch that Sakamichi no Aporon (Kids on the slope) left me when I first watched it, but Blue Giant made me feel like I was 17 again, slowly getting into jazz after denouncing it as the worst genre of music to exist. It reminded me of what it felt like to get lost in-between the rhythms of the drums when Buddy Rich hammered out another solo, or the improvisation of the walking bass line as it harmonized with the percussion. Maybe it was nostalgia or maybe it was the hallucinatory music of Bill Evans that played through my head as I read through but Blue Giant made me feel as if an old friend had given me a warm hug. I hope that the proceeding volumes are just as good, if not better than the first two and I'll be gladly collecting the full (short) 10 volumes soon enough.

Una storia che parla di Dai Miyamoto. Dai è innamorato con il Jazz e vuole diventare il migliore jazzista nel mondo.
Qualcosa che mi piaceva un sacco era Dai stesso. Era moltissimo forte, il senso che la sua testa era dura. Ci sono una butta di volte dove Dai si trova ad affrontare delle sfide, e lui si mai arrende. Lo ammiravo per questo. Perché di questo penso che lui sarà davvero il più grande jazzista del mondo.
Mi piace la musica jazz, dunque vedere come jazz funziona era anche interessante e coinvolgente da leggere su.
Comunque questi erano le parte migliore per me e le cose che volevo sottolineare nella mia recensione. Questo serie è davvero basato sui personaggi. Se non ti piace storie cosi leggi qualcos'altro. Altrimenti, ti suggerire a provare il primo volume e vederti se ti piace.
