eclipses the first two parts in scale & majesty. truly one of the greatest stories ever imagined and lovingly so, with endless readability. does not blow out the torch of hope in a post-industrial world for what has been lost and destroyed but rekindles hope to rebuild and regrow it.

This final book of the trilogy was incredible. Having seen the films first despite The Hobbit being one of my favourite books, I was so happy to have finally read this trilogy.

The end was very nice and different to the film as it showed the strength of character of the hobbits as they rebuilt the shire and Hobbiton.
