This is a gorgeous book. It feels like being wrapped in a warm blanket fresh out of the dryer. Equal parts heartwarming & heartbreaking. ❤️

such a beautiful and tragic love and life story, perfectly delivered, transporting you to a time and place you'd want to visit in your vivid dreams. it was a mix between so many aspects of things i know and love, including brokeback mountain and sherlock, the song of achilles and aristotle and dante, les chansons d'amour and the perks of being a wallflower and the danish girl; and things that took my breath away with their captivating scenery and landscapes and details, like call me by your name; and books that i didn't particularly like, but that drizzled specks of the uglier, more raw side of life, like what belongs to you. it was a mix of this meets that and simultaneously its own lovely and heartbreaking story, and it left my fingertips buzzing and my heart aching. a beaut

Having known next to nothing about this book, I decided to read it on a whim after having recently gotten into (and cried over) the musical Falsettos—which, you know, certainly is a decision I made, to say the least. In the end, though, whatever karmic fate led me to make that decision knew what it was doing, because, god, sometimes the parallels between them, between their characters, was almost overwhelming. Tin Man was practically Marvin and Whizzer, if Whizzer was a European poet and Marvin never had a kid. Marvin and Whizzer if they were nicer, if they were younger. Marvin and Whizzer if they had more time to waste and more love to fill their lives with.
Maybe I’m just interjecting my current hyperfixation into everything around me, or maybe this really is going somewhere; it’s too late at night for me to tell. I certainly can tell, however, that, despite the late time on my clock, this was a lovely book with lovely writing and absolutely tragic characters. Aka, just the way I like my stories.

Meh. I was expecting to love this book but just didn’t. The time jumps were too jarring and hard to follow. The writing is beautiful, though, and some moments got me choked up.
