There is no hope of me being objective about this review, because it's about David and Murdo, and I love David and Murdo. I had reconciled myself to the short epilogue-esque last chapter in Enlightened, but I was so glad to get my hands on this book.
The story begins with Murdo receiving bad news from his family, and it leads to both him and David taking a trip back to Edinburgh where their story first began. Written in dual POV, the story switches perspectives every chapter. It was wonderful to be inside Murdo's head and to revisit David's as well. There are a lot of moments where they each look back on who they used to be and how far they've come, along with affectionate reminisces of their time together. Coupled with the happiness of where they are at the moment, this story delivered everything I wanted from a happy ending for these two - easy conversation, being tender with each other, hot sex and so much love.
Do I have to say I loved it? Because I absolutely did.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Cheeks hurt from smiling, heart filled with love stars.
“I have not missed London for a single moment,” he said. “But I would miss it with my whole heart if you were here and I was not.” He turned in to face David squarely, still holding his hand, and David angled in too. “You are my home,” he said. “My heart is wherever you are.”
Joanna Chambers blessed her newsletter subscribers today with a follow up novella for David and Murdo from her, “Enlightenment,” series.
The, “Enlightenment,” books are what made me wade deeper into mm historical romance. I hadn’t liked the few that I tried before them and had thought they just weren’t for me. Since then, I’ve come to appreciate them more and more. They still aren’t what I read most of the time but I have found some excellent ones and it all started with lovely David and perfect, swoon worthy Murdo. They remain my favorite historical mm couple and are high on my overall favorite couples list. The two are perfection.
I should say I’m biased and would perhaps read anything with the pair and rate it highly.
This was a beautiful follow up to their saga. I loved catching up with them again. Knowing what it took to get them to this point made it even sweeter. I’d happily read about them forever. And reading this has made me want to reread the original trilogy. I think I just might do that.

An epilogue to the Enlightenment series, free for newsletter subscribers. It's a joy to see these two be so much in love.

This was great - it packed an emotional punch even tho it was short (it is a novella duh). This is one of my favourite series so I'm very glad we got this.

Murdo's father has died, and there is a bequest waiting for him in London.
A short, but emotional epilogue that deals with Murdo's complex relationship with his father and gives us a small hint about the next book :D
A beautiful end to a beautiful series.
