They are starting to get a "real" edge. Not really a pleasant escape and "Happy ending".

I’m gonna mostly complain in this review but i did love this book. i’ve love the new cast of characters, it was refreshing, to not have all the MC (one especially that i find a bit annoying). i’ve loved what this book is setting for the next ones. i’ve loved Cal and Selena especially in this book. i’ve love the quest vibes. and TD is always fun

that said, i need to complain once again about how the relationship are portrayed in this series. for Tara and Robin, Robin is an issue (in the other books) as he doesn’t know what consent means but he learns. for Magister and Selena, the guy is a red flag by himself and the villain so of course his obsession is not love and toxic. for Moineau and Fabrice, it’s an other story. they’re the most toxic couple of the series. he’s totally taking advantage of her and her love. he’s the worst (since the beginning) with her and especially in this book where he flogged her!!! but no at the end he choose the good side and they’re in love again (which they didn’t stop being at any moment) just like that. no redemption arc and she forgives him without anyone acknowledging the fact that this 15 yo whipped his girlfriend ?!??

also too much New Moon vibes (hello 2009) in this novel, thank gods, Cal was there and not Jacob! (not enough Cal in this book btw even if Tara and him are the best duo)

and i don’t like the direction the author chose to go with for the romances especially with one love triangle (fortunately i know she changed her mind because it was the worst parings ever!)
