4.5 stars for the book itself, +0.5 stars because of how my own flaws meshed so immaculately within it

I think my expectations were a little high. Nothing truly wrong with the novel, I just wasn't really feeling it at all.
It might also be because I struggle to read from the perspectives of teenagers, it usually puts me off a book. Therefore, I think I am going to continue the series when they become young adults.

Painful read. Watching the main character constantly throw herself at people who treated her like shit made it very difficult to continue at times. But the writing was stunning and the ending definitely makes me want to continue the series.

There were a lot of moments where I saw a younger version of myself who was equally enamored with and jealous of a best friend. There’s a fascination girls have with their best friends and that’s captured here.
