This charming story is of a boy who starts learning to read at school. Each day after he learns a new letter, he sees that letter on all of the signs and posters around the city. Finally, he realizes that he isn’t just learning to see, he is learning to read! The wonder and shock that comes when kids first start to read is immediately understood in this book, which makes for a super likeable main character.

This is such a cute book about a little boy learning how to read! If you know a child who is getting frustrated with learning to read, this could be great. It shows the sometimes long process of recognizing letters and words, and the excitement when it finally clicks.

I liked the premise of the story much more than it's execution.

I loved this book! It shows how the world changes for children who are learning how to read. At first letters are just squiggles and pictures. As the boy learns his letters he becomes excited he can now read the words around him. The book is a tad too long for classroom read aloud but would be good for home reading with your kindergartner.

A charming book that encapsulates the joys and the wonder of reading in beautiful colours and pictures. It's perfect for both children and adults because it gives children a sense of accomplishment and it gives adults a chance to reimagine something that is often taken for granted. Beautiful.
