What a great second story in this series. I loved Ruth, but heavens to Betsy I felt sorry for her. She was treated so badly by the people around her, and her story bright to light the mistreatment of women in the forces. And the constant push back she receives made me want to pull my hair out. This is ongoing in our world now, which is why I also appreciate the author's stories.

And then there's, Jack. He wants to break through Ruth's "never date" defenses. He's kind of like a gentle bull in a China shop. Even with his piloting, his friend Charlie is asking him where his faith is in matters. That's especially true with their flying.

Ruth and Jack have a lot to overcome, but the Lord is with them through it all.

Very well researched, but not my type of book. Ruth and Jack have to face their problems in the most dramatic way possible. They are off and on like a light bulb!
Not not reccomending this book, it just isn't the one for me.

A Memory Between Us by Sarah Sundin is the second book in the Wings of Glory series about fighter pilots in World War II. Jack Novak knows he's good at flying planes and leading his squadron of men in England; he's never faced a battle he lost, until he meets Ruth Doherty. Ruth, an army nurse, is well-known for keeping men at arm's length. Her terrible secret wars with her attraction to Jack. She keeps such a wall around her heart that the only friend she has on the base is May. May and Jack's best friend Charlie quickly hit it off, but they are separated by a terrible mistake Jack makes to save his pride. Ruth's need to financially support her younger siblings at home forces her to take a higher paying and higher risk job as a flight nurse, but the worst risk may come from those she is supposed to be working with, rather than Nazi guns. Sundin has written a beautiful and epic love story. Filled with historical detail and plenty of slang, the reader feels transported to WWII. Ruth's secret is terrible and tragic, and the scene when Jack confronts her with it brought tears to my eyes. The story has action, romance, drama, and faith- what more could a reader ask for?

Amazing! Sarah Sundin has done it again…….she has created another story and made it come to life before the reader and captures the reader with the love and mercy that flows through out! I love an author like that. She pulled me instantly with the characters and the storyline, and held me til the last page. It was EXTREMELY hard to put this book down. I wanted to read through the whole book in one setting to see what finally would happen at the end!

A Memory Between Us continues the Novak brothers’ story, this time, with middle brother Jack. Much like A Distant Melody, Sarah continues with a message of over coming the past and moving forward in your life, while relying on God for the redemption and love. A well created message by a super talented author. Reading Ruth and Jack’s stories was both funny, and serious. I loved all the quirkiness that Sarah threw into the story to keep the reader smiling, but I also loved the seriousness that she gave to Ruth. Ruth was a character I could relate with in many different ways. I saw myself in a lot of what Ruth did or said. She really tugged at my heart!

And let’s not forget about the handsome and charming Jack Novak! After all, this is his story. He is determined that Ruth is the girl for him, but there’s a secret from her past that’s holding her back and he’s determined to find out what it is! I loved his charming ways and his humbling attitude. If only I could find a guy as sweet and handsome as Air Corps pilot, Jack Novak…..*sigh*. His character was chiseled wonderfully and added so much to Ruth’s part of the story, as he was working his charm and getting her to like and trust him. He really captured my heart in this well written story!

This is a book that is definitely worth 5 stars, along with high recommendations to all who love a tender historical romance story…..it’s a perfect addition to the Wings of Glory series. While it is always my recommendation to read a series in order, this could easily be read as a stand alone title. If you’ve never read a Sarah Sundin novel, this is a good place to start, along with A Distant Melody, book 1 in this awesome series. I look forward to book 3, Blues Skies Tomorrow, releasing in August of 2011, and following oldest brother, Ray Novak’s story.

Four words can sum up my thoughts on A Memory Between Us and they are, "I love this book!" Just when I thought I couldn't enjoy a book more than A Distant Melody, Ms. Sundin writes this book and I fall in love with Jack, Ruth, Charlie, and May. They're damaged, hurting, and have to deal with the trials and problems that come with war while learning to let go and give it all to God. And let me just say this if you like a good villain (wow that was an oxymoron but I like it so I'm using it:P) you will get one in this book and he just makes you want to scream! Yeah, he's pretty bad. Actually there are a few people in this book who I don't like but that makes the story even more interesting in my opinion!

One of the reasons why I loved A Distant Melody so much was not just because of the great romance between two average looking everyday people but because of the authentic, in your face, action that makes you feel as if you are actually making a bombing run with Walt and his crew. You get that same action in this book. There are tense moments galore. As far as emotions go this is definitely a story that will make a basket case out of you. For the first few chapters I was laughing at the nurse/patient banter and teasing between Jack and Ruth then I cried and then I got angry and then I ended up a happy camper. Both Ruth and Jack, not to mention Charlie and May, the supporting characters, go through some pretty harrowing ordeals. You will be on pins and needles.

Sarah Sundin writes like a seasoned pro and this is only her second novel! I said it before and I'll say it again, I don't know how she is going to top this book. I do love World War II stories and I've read a lot but I can honestly say that A Memory Between Us is by far my favorite Christian war romance and quite possible a favorite romance period. Both of Sarah's books have earned spots in my permanent library, I'm hope there isn't a long wait for Book 3.

*I received my review copy from Donna @ Revell Publishers in exchange for posting my honest opinion of the book.*

The first book in this series is a contrast between the warfront and the homefront.
This book is warfront and an overseas nurse.

I loved this book as much as I love Sarah's first book.

more to follow.

I'm sure I've said this before about her novels, but one of my favorite things about Ms. Sundin's writing is that the way she writes her characters almost always makes me want to both slap them and sympathize with them. I love when I'm able to do that, because they seem more real then just characters on a page.

Another wonderful read from an author that brings the action and drama of ww2 to life. I love her use of flawed and broken characters that need to learn to follow and trust God, no matter the circumstances.
