I don't have the words for this one. This is my favourite of the series and has been since I first read it nearly a decade ago.

So much happens in this book, and so many references are made to "real life" issues. Especially mental illness (depression in particular), and what many say is reference to AIDS (although J. K. Rowling has said Lupin's condition is "a metaphor for illnesses with stigma").

I love the character growth seen here and the magic that is experienced, both new and old. Quidditch... gotta love it.

As always, Jim Kay's illustrations blow me away. This book allowed him to so a more "creepy" side to his art, and I love it!

5 stars as always. And I recommend the series to those who have yet to read it, young or old.

This was (so far) my favourite Harry Potter book to read! I loved the development of Serius Black and loved how the turn of events was at the end. Read the last 6 ish chapters in one sitting as i couldn’t put it down. It was so intriguing to find out the truth about all of the characters, even ones you didn’t suspect to have a part in the major story line. I love how everything was explained in the end and there wasn’t one person or story line that was unclear/didn’t make sense. All around, loved how it didnt involve Voldemort as much compared to other books also and instead got to see other characters.

Hard not to talk about the film when looking prisoner of Azkaban. Just a truly great film that stands on its own above the rest of them. The book doesn’t come close to that but there is still a lot to enjoy
The mystery is a lot more interesting to follow in this instalment compared to the first two and the explanations that are left out of the film are interesting. But still it bogs it down and makes for some somewhat excruciating pages of just dialogue.

This is where the Harry Potter series really takes off. The Wizarding World and the dark history surrounding the death of the Potters begins to expand and add interesting layers to the other characters' backgrounds.
