Book club book:

I have this book 2 stars since it just wasn’t really my cup of tea. But I did really like the fact it was set in Bath and I’ve been there many times so I recognised the locations :)

I think the whole time situation and multiverse theory is a very tricky and complicated concept to pull off and this book didn’t hit it for me.

I also found this book quite triggering in regards to Laura’s relationship with her dad which mirrored my own relationship with my dad a bit too well and I wasn’t expecting this from this book, if it wasn’t a book club pick, I probably would have dnf’d because of this but this is solely a me issue and not the fault of the author. I did however appreciate the representation of different types of abuse as I feel like it’s not as recognised.

Overall I wasn’t really thrilled with the plot and I found that for me it did drag but I liked the setting of the book and I am glad that Will and Elsa lived happily ever after

Brilliant page turner, intriguing and heartfelt. Great characters I felt very invested in. Loved it.

Can't even tell you how much I adored this book. The writing is beautiful - some darker themes around war, loss and mental health were explored really well. The concept of the story is so clever, I genuinely never guessed the twist and I was gripped right until the end.

I love dual timeline stories and I also love wartime books - this is both and one of the best I've read. It's set in Bath, partly during World War 2 from Will's perspective, and in the 2000s from Laura's perspective.

The only thing I would say is that I felt like Laura's relationship with her father should have been delved into in the final chapter, but overall I absolutely loved this book. Definitely going to read more of Keith Stuart's work!
