This book was just plain bullying and manipulation. The only one I liked in this book was Frank.

I really, really enjoyed this book. I stayed up late and then picked it back up this morning. I haven’t done that in awhile!

I laughed, I cried… it was a fun ride. It has a plot similar to Against a Wall. The town is totally weird and the people are nuts, but that is what makes a fun book.

Author clearly needs a beta reader or an introduction to grammar. Whatever comes first.

Really enjoyed this book but I see no one talking about the insane plot at the end with Frank?? I literally couldn’t stop laughing at the ridiculousness of it. Not a bad ridiculousness, mind you. But hilarious. The way Frank is literally a human in a moose’s body and does all of Kayla’s bidding?? Howling. Absolutely uncontrollable, side splitting laughter. Still can’t get over him rolling his eyes at Justin LMAOOOOO

More serious review:

I think this is one of the best enemies to lovers I’ve read. Instead of it just being ‘he hates her because she’s so attractive and I can’t have her’ (which, it does have so don’t fear if you like that), he has a very valid reason to hate her. One that extends past himself and I believe adds a certain depth to the whole plot. His realization just made it ten times better.

Only reason this isn’t a 5 star is because a) I rarely rank anything 5 stars and b) I do feel like the character development was a bit rushed towards the end. Like, one minute they haven’t seen each other for months and the next they’re moved in together and engaged. And I’m not even being dramatic. I also think they had A LOT more shit to work through and I think he was forgiven a bit too quickly. Also think the caroline subplot was just a bit unnecessary and only came apparent in the last 10% and was over in a matter of pages.

Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it very fast. I enjoyed it more than the first as I feel it explored the characters a bit more and the story, overall, was more interesting (although I think the battered woman/ PTSD in which the first book addressed was very good). I can’t wait to read the next few books and to read more from the author!

While reading this book, I am growing more and more fond of the people of Little Hope. If this was a real place, I would not mind get stuck there. Also, it was very nice to see Alex and Freya from Haunted Hearts, book one in this series appear in this book as well. If anyone had a true enemies to lovers relationship it is Kayla and Justin.

They had history between them that was not easily forgotten. Luckily, these two strong headed people eventually realized that they were better together. Justin did not let up on Kayla easily. Yet, Kayla could hold her own. As the story progressed, I could feel the tension building between these two. So that when they finally got up close and personal, it was HOT! These summer days may be hot, but the pages of this book are scorching!
