it’s a really fun story. i like how all the different DC characters are morphed into these Mignola-esque Lovecraftian nightmares. It’s basically just that though. This reads a lot like my review of the film, but this is just a kinda lame and half-baked comic. It’s short snd sweet and i love it for that, and i would definitely mark it down to like 3 stars if not for how short it is, but that also makes some ideas feel kinda underdeveloped.
Another negative mark on this book is that like one needs a lot of DC knowledge to read this comic. You need to know who the robins are, Green Arrow, Oracle, The Penguin, Two Face, and Talia Al Ghul all have minor appearances that, without prior knowledge, feel super underdeveloped. Characters like Alfred, Poison Ivy, Jim Gordon, and a couple others show up for a couple panels but too are barely in this.
It’s cool to watch Batman’s rogues gallery turn from humans to these nightmares, but there is really nothing more than that. There’s no introspection or message here, it’s just plain fun. I especially loved how they integrated Two Face and Oracle into this. I also loved that all three robins were in this, that was really cool to see.

This is hands down the weirdest comic I've ever read.

Pretty good! I wasn't much of a fan of Gotham by Gaslight, which falls stylistically in the same range as this story (and both involve Mignola), but The Doom that Came to Gotham executes the theming and mood better. The Lovecraft mythos is neatly adapted and presented.
