I love this series so much! The characters, the magic, the world building it’s so good! Xiala ended up being my favorite character, with Iktan right behind. (I wish we saw more of them together!)

The magic was quite cool. Xiala’s powers will always be amazing to me, but getting to see more of Balam’s and the darker side of magic was exactly what the third book needed.

I did read this one much slower than the first two, because life started lifing, and I think if I binged it, it would’ve gotten a higher star rating from me.

*POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD*

I was a little disappointed in the ending. I don’t mind when things are left unfulfilled, but it felt a little anticlimactic for the build up of everything. 

Even though flawed, I think the world built was so spectacular. And this is a series I will certainly reread in the future! While not all were 5☆, it’s an excellent trilogy.

Definitely better than the previous book - the characters had much more purpose and direction. I never felt like I had a good handle on anyone's motivations at the big picture, why-are-we-fighting-this-war level, which is likely a me problem, but I was still very emotionally invested in the various relationships.
