This series is so beautiful and this is the exact finale it needed. The farewells were absolutely lovely, and the messages were powerful. I absolutely loved it. The new adventure Everley and her friends embarked on helped expand the world and the mythology within it. Despite the darkness of their mission, there are moments of light and bravery. Everyone shares a moment and I think they all got the endings they deserved.

By this end, Everley proved herself to be a strong female who totally endeared herself to me. I watched in awe at her passion, courage, choices, and the changes she endured as a character. I am going to miss her, along with her friends! I'll even miss Killian, who is one of the most charismatic and enthralling villains I've ever encountered.

The action and drama were visceral, and it truly did lead to a fitting ending. Right from the get-go, this trilogy has been magical, imaginative, creative, and stunning. I am so happy I experienced it, and recommend it to all lovers of fairy tales, fantasy, and meaningful themes.

I did not expect much from the last book in this trilogy, and I was not peasantly surprised, nor disappointed. If anything, this instalment shows the same strengths and flaws as the previous books: amazing mythology, a beautiful writing style, but overall predictability and problems in pacing.

Overall, I feel that not much happened during those 3 books. They all have the same format: very slow until the action picks up at about 70 or 80%. If it is understandable in the first book to explain the world and the intrigue that is to come, it much less so in the next two books, especially in the last one that should tie all the loose ends.
I really found this book predicatble. From the way Markham can be hurt that was pretty much explained at the end of the second book, but poor stupid Everley can't figure it out (seriously, how much more obvious did it need to be?), to the predictions that explained exactly what was going to happen, especially when Father Time finally explains everything to Everley... Nothing surprised me.
Once again, Everley follows instructions rather than coming up with her own plans... and always fails when she is left alone. Even when she saves the worlds, it is not really by her hand. No epic fight, no gesture of pure intelligence from her part: Markham was defeated because he was himself under-estimating her and being stupid. Which, once again, doesn't make for a compelling villain. I unerstand that Everley defeats him because she finally allows herself to love people and let them in to help her and be there with her... but as a mean to struck the last blow, to me, it doesn't work. Yes, she grew up, yes, she's finally getting her revenge, and not the way she intended at first... but I wasn't invested enough to feel this sensation of triumph and the happiness of knowing him completely erased.
This instalment brought a bit more characterisation... but not enough because most characters still felt very shallow and far removed from the complexity of individuals. The LGBTQI+ characters didn't really feel genuine but just there to include the community in the story. There was more info-dumping about them than really arcs where their identity really matter. Showing them for the sake of filling quotas doesn't really work, at least to my opinion.
Markham still doesn't feel believable or even scary. Everybody repeats how he is cunning, terrible, cruel, and smart... but I just had a villain who wriggled his way through characters surviving and making the most of it rather than being on top of the situation. Once again, given his age... how can he bare to interact with the characters? I'm 24 and I would've ignored them. Same with Osric... a 600 something year old elf befriending a 17 year-old... how is there nothing wrong with it? Even I wouldn't sleep in the same bed as a 17 yo, male or female. And I wouldn't have the patience for that.

Now let's talk about the ending... I would've liked a bittersweet one. Here, everything is just too jolly happy, everyone is alive, everyone is happy, everyone gets the ending they supposedly deserved, and Everley and Jamison finds their way towards each other again. The difficulty about killing Markham was giving up on everything good that happened to Everley, but this sacrifice doesn't have any weight once you see the outcome. Her family's alive. She's meeting the love of her life. She's happiest than she ever could've been in the other timeline. The sacrifice doesn't feel like one (and it was so predictable from beforehand she should not have had any hesitation, especially with the predictions made by Muriel that showed the outcome without any subtelty).

To conclude, I should stay away from YA. It used to be a guilty pleasure of mine... I guess I've really outgrown it now.

Glad to be done. It was a very roundabout third book, slow to get going (very put downable) but picked up the pace towards the end. I got frustrated with how shortsighted the protagonist was, and how everything was spelt out. Despite all the many adventures she’d already been on, it was frustrating to read about her making decisions with no plan or proper information and getting upset when it didn’t work out. Honestly. Also, the epilogue was almost too fanciful. I’m glad this series is finished!

Loved this trilogy. The first book I had to put down and come back to it, but glad I did pick it back up. I think this one was my favorite. Also the woman who did the audiobook was amazing. I got chills several times the way she read it.

Everafter Song

This is the third and last book in the Evermore Chronicles Series. I gave 5-❤️ to each book in the series because they are equally great. This series is filled with action, suspense, courage, surprises, and, of course, love. The last book concluded the series in a spectacular way.

In the last book, Everley is in hiding because of the queen’s false accusations. She is still mourning the loss of her family and is determined to find Killian Markham and make his pay for his sins. With the help of her friends, she will travel the worlds to find him before it is too late. Father Time has shown her the future and she can see that Killian has figured out a way to bring destruction to her world. He also showed her what she must sacrifice to stop Killian. Will she find a way to stop him before it is too late? Will she be willing to make that sacrifice?

This is an awesome read. I recommend this series wholeheartedly. It would be a great Christmas gift for any YA fantasy lovers.

This one started out pretty slow, and it took me the longest to read. However, the ending was beautiful. I think it wrapped the story well and had a good blend of the worst possible outcomes and the best and most surprising outcome. There were many surprises in this book that I didn’t see coming regarding the characters. I really have to say I enjoyed learning more and more about Killian as the series went on. He was an incredibly dynamic villain. Jamison and Everley’s romance was the best. Overall, this book, along with the whole trilogy, gets a resounding recommendation from me!

Emily R. King takes us on yet another exhilarating journey with our heroine, Evie; and I was once again unable to tear my eyes away from this book for even a second. We get to see more world, meet more characters, understand the depth of Killian and finally why he's done all of this. In a way, however, the reveal for his villainy was almost disappointing. I personally didn't think it warranted how evil he ended up becoming, but I suppose this is true of most villains in the real world.

This final journey and final battle that Evie and co. went on was so enjoyable, this whole book I loved the build up to everything. But when it came to the climax, and resolution of the story, I just expected so much more. Everything felt so rushed in those final chapters and it felt all the build up for these three books, the friendships and relationships these characters had ... it was washed away in a single second. The epilogue was short, and displeasing, and left me wondering what happened to all of the other characters that the author introduced us to. I want to know THEIR fates, not just Jamison and Evie's.

I loved everything up until the ending, but was ultimately dissatisfied with how everything wrapped up. Nevertheless, this was a magical, wonderful tale of sacrifice, love, and friendships that I think many fantasy readers will love.

I received this book from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this conclusion to the trilogy - I felt that it was a good wrap up of all the story lines, while still allowing us to experience new things. Everley continues to be a good main character - trying to catch Markham for her own reasons, but also wanting justice. She has such a spark of life in her. I also like that we start to see more of Markham’s reasoning, and how that sits with the other realms. He does become a little cartoonish, but in a good way, as he is a villain, after all.

I also love the side characters in this - I could happily read whole books about their adventures.

We also finally get to see the giants! And that was so cool, as they are more advanced than the humans, and I really liked the small moments of comedy that provides for the reader.

Overall a really enjoyable series, and this is a fitting ending. Emily’s writing continues to shine for me.

Filled with colourful characters with immensely detailed backstories, I found there are quite a few I could personally relate to, I dare say, there is something in here for everyone.

With a lot of spirit travelling, time travelling and world travelling, this is not the easiest read to follow, but if you pace yourself and stick with it the big picture falls in place perfectly at the end.

I love the mystery and atmosphere that each character brings to the story, as we wait for the story to unfold. The atmosphere of whether this new character can be trusted or is betrayal looming adds a wonderful depth and dynamic to the story. Especially when it comes to the pirates.

What I didn't love is the lack of a breakdown of the worlds. I would love a map of an index to just help form a better picture of how this universe works.

I would definitely recommend this for fans of the Raven and the Dove by Kaitlyn Davis as well as Reign of Fire
