"That is one good thing about this world...there are always sure to be more springs."

"…I'm so thankful for friendship. It beautifies life so much." - L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea.

A short review for a quick read. This is the second book in the Anne of Green Gables series and it most definitely continues the loveliness of the first book. I think there is a general consensus that the first book is undoubtedly the best in the series, and I agree, but this one is still charming. Having read this when I was in primary school the last time, I have somewhat altered my memories of this book; Gilbert is not as big a character as I thought, and there is a lot more about the Avonlea improvement society than I recall. But, the nature writing is as beautiful as ever, and Anne's friendships and adventures are such a pleasure to read. If you are a fan of the first book, I wouldn't say you have to continue the series as the first I'd by far the best, but if you want a little more of Anne and her world, definitely pick this up! - C x
