An excellent piece of fantasy. It felt like a cross among The Deed of Paksenarrion, Harry Potter, Ender’s Game, and a romance novel. More than once I found the plot got more interesting in a fun way, without being too predictable.

Only a little part of it dragged towards the end and the writing got a little too broad and confusing (I doubt I could have done better).

okay i KNOW the writing is cheesy and can be predictable and the characters make you want to reach through the page and strangle them sometimes... BUT ITS FUN TO READ...

okay whats more important - only reading high brow complex fiction, or enjoying reading HMMMMM. yeah, gonna read about dragons if i want to.

that being said i fear i had the entire plot figured out within ten chapters but thats okay it still made me feel something and thats all i want in my reading experience

When people said “grown up Hunger Games” meets fantasy i was not expecting that to mean weird horny dragon-bond shit

I called the twist at the end as soon as they mentioned another healer being nearby, but it still was pretty well done.

Also, romance writers, PLEASE stop describing things or people as “hot” or “sexy” it makes me criiiinge
