I’m gonna be honest, I was not into this book in the slightest until like the last 75 pages, but once it picked up in the last 4-5 chapters, I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t put it down. The rest of the book however, I was definitely muscling through it. I didn’t love the writing, nor the cliche of the *sooo fragile and weak* FMC that somehow is also super powerful and is able to win her battles. The side characters were more interesting than the actual FMC and the dark and broody shadow wielder, but they eventually grew on me too by the end. The big gasp of a cliffhanger on the last page definitely makes me want to keep reading the series, so I suppose I’ll go pick up the next book from the library.

I found the plot to be lacking, like the author didn’t know which details to hammer out fully and which to leave behind. The love story was somewhat frustrating and laughable at times. The magical components of the story often didn’t make sense.
