Just not my cup of tea, anthologies often have varying skill level per story but I just couldn't get into any of these.

No real stinkers and two or three very good stories, but some are tenuously Lovecraftian.

An excellent collection! There were two stories I could not get through but the rest were super high quality.

The editor did not lionize Lovecraft and in fact, there are blistering critiques of the man. Some of these stories are outstanding. You will not be disappointed.

My favourites from the anthology were 'Just Beyond the Trailer Park', 'I Dress My Lover in Yellow', 'Deep Eden' (I really wish this one could have been novel length - it sets up such an interesting world and situation), and 'I Believe That We Will Win' (it's such a fascinating basis for a cult. Ironically I kind of wish the Lovecraftian elements didn't exist in it and it focused solely on the cult).

The stories in this book were somewhat hit or miss, but the hits were so good that it pulled my rating up from a 2.5 to a 3.5. In particular my favourite was ‘in the ruins of mohenjo-daro’ which was so amazingly written it actually had my heart racing
I also really enjoyed the effort put into the book in ensuring that there was a lot of diversity in both the characters and the authors, pulling the lovecraftian weird fiction genre out of its hole of racist white men

Collection of recent Lovecraft inspired works. It's interesting to see the directions modern Lovecraftian horror has taken, moving away from the trappings of old books and haunted New England settings and exploring the themes: fear of the outsider and fear of your self. Good collection.

Overly reliant on the same limited stable of authors that too many modern Mythos anthologies rely on. Full review: https://fakegeekboy.wordpress.com/2022/08/05/cthulhu-mythos-anthologies-are-trash-and-i-hate-them/
