Ik kwam erg moeilijk door dit boek heen, hoewel ik het niet vervelend vond om het te lezen. Na 10 minuten had ik er vaak al genoeg van en wilde ik liever wat anders doen. De stijl van schrijven is anders dan ik normaal lees, niet alle Engelse woorden kende ik, waardoor ik af en toe de grapjes niet meteen snapte. Uiteindelijk is het een boek wat je wel flink aan het denken zet. Je beseft je na het lezen van dit boek maar al te goed dat we de wereld kapot maken
This book was depressing, but balanced that with cute animals. It was a lot like reading about our current world, but everyone is animals. That’s fun. Some parts were really entertaining, such as the conversations about the Good Boy religion. It wasn’t really earth shattering, but it was fun. There is a chapter near the end that is told from a different perspective (not trying to give spoilers) that I found beautiful, and for that I give four instead of three stars.

there's a lot to love about this book. remarkably, Mitchell manages to balance the humor and absurdity of her story with the existential crisis faced by the animals within it in a way that comes off as neither preachy nor superficial. the perfect balance of funny and serious.

One of the best books of the year. It’s full of rage and sorrow and hope without being overly preachy or shallow. Loved it!
