This was good with the tension building, the pining and the stalker suspense. Add in single dad/ nanny and it's everything I'm looking for! Regan is Robyn's sister (1st book) and she running from a traumatic incident, so she joins her sister in Scotland for a visit. Thane is a widower and has been looking for a live in nanny for a while. Of course it's a good idea to hire Regan. 🤭 The kids were cute! I did enjoy the moments they had together, at least when Thane wasn't being a complete ass. For a lot of the book though, it felt like Regan was always begging him and trying to convince him to want her. And honestly, that just wasn't it. 🙄 And I always want a HEA but he needed to grovel some, seriously.

god bless these Adair men!!

they drive me up the wall as often as they make me fall in love with them. there’s no in between - they either have me kicking my legs in the air and grinning like i’ve gone insane or they have me wanting to reach into my kindle and smack some sense into them.

i felt that way with Lachlan but lord knows the impulse was worse for Thane in this book. probably the hottest single dad ngl. the way he was with those kids… ughhhhhh😩 and the tension with Regan was unbelievable. but dear god i wanted to shake him until he understood his own feelings (thank god for Lachlan’s emotional growth and for giving great advice). it felt like Thane and Regan were going round in circles for most of the book but i don’t think it was in a negative way, it actually made the love confession at the end all the more worth it.

those Penhaligon sisters too. i adored Robyn and i really wasn’t sure about Regan from the first impressions of her from book one but ooooh boy i loved her just as much. i would never be able to pick a favourite. i absolutely loved the relationship she had with Lewis and Eilidh (who were also the most adorable fictional kids ever btw), and i just loved the way she was cheery and positive and was so protective of them. she really went through some shit in this book and all i wanted to do was hug her but her character growth was amazing and i’m glad Samantha had her stay even when it all went to shit, because it would’ve been all too easy to have her leave in the same way that Robyn did and have Thane chase after her - this way stayed true to her character and her story.

once again, i love the mix of romance and plot that Samantha brings to her books. they’re not boring for a single second.
