Sweet story
Sweet love story. Grumpy-sunshine, stalker, goofy dog. Editing was fine.
Usually I give this author 5 stars, but this one just wasn't quite there for me. I didn't feel the chemistry between the main characters. I wasn't charmed by the side characters. The relationship felt constructed and fast and not a natural build. There were lots of paragraphs I slipped because they didn't feel important to the story, more like descriptions that just extended word count.
It wasn't a bad story, just wasn't my favorite.

When I signed up for this arc, I didn’t even bother to read the blurb, so when I opened the book, I went in blind. No disappointment at all. I just wanted to read the Haven Brothers series after having so much fun with the Baileys.
Audrey is sunshine and roses and Josiah? Well, he is broody, surly and grunts a lot. They seem to speak a language where they understand each other.
I loved this first book of the Haven brothers series and I’m certainly looking for the rest.
Of course the Tilikum Squirrels were very much a part of the book, as they should be and made their appearance from the time Audrey strolled into Town.
The book takes place years after the last Bailey brother book, where a truce was formed when Annika Haven married Levi Bailey. So here we see them happily married with kids.
Audrey was brought very differently to Josiah and couldn’t wait to leave town and never look back. Life however, brought her back to her hometown and she finds herself in a job in Tilikum as a reporter for the Tilikum Tribune. Josiah, who never left Tilikum was quiet and liked keeping to himself, working to the bone remodelling homes for sale or rental. He becomes Audrey’s landlord.
And how can I forget Max, the silly dog! He was simply just another character in this story and he certainly came through when needed.
The story follows Audrey coming to town to start fresh, what she doesn’t know is that someone is watching her. She is stalked and harassed and she is scared. Josiah takes it upon himself to keep her safe. With a little help of fate or maybe Aunt Louise, lol, he finally takes the plunge and kisses her.
Not a lot of spicy scenes, but it’s left for the imagination. This was mostly a stalker situation with swoony Josiah being the hero and Audrey finding her place in a small town she never thought she would settle in.
Do I recommend this books? Yes, if you like sweet, swoony stories with a little suspense to it.
What did I rate Audrey and Josiah?

this was so fun, but like I feel every small town mystery has like the same ending, felt as though it was copy and pasted from another two books that had effectively the same conclusion
The beginning was really good and the story way promising. I didn't love the stalker premise from the start but I was willing to look past it for a good story. Unfortunately I started to get bored really quickly. I will say I didn't expect who the stalker turned out to be though.
Really liked her books in the Bootleg Springs series so tried this one but not compelled to finish the series.
