These books definitely get better as the series progresses! While the first part of this book moves rather slowly, the second part definitely picks up! There is so much that happens in this book. I liked that more magic is used, although I have to say I thought there would be more magic used in general at this point in the series.

One thing that has bothered me throughout this series is that people seem to fall in (and out) of love very quickly. Several characters have supposedly been in love with multiple people, which makes it seem more like lust and not love. Honestly I’m pretty tired of Jonas (I’ve never really been a fan) and of Lucia.

But there is finally a development between Magnus and Cleo and I LOVED IT!

definitely my favorite of the series (or at least of what ive read so far). the characters had actual interactions, not that they didnt have any before, but i just feel like it skipped over a lot of things that couldve been explored more in depth. and i do wish that almost every hetero couple that couldve existed always had to kiss, like some of the couples just felt so unnecessary (this maybe applies more to the previous books though)
lucia finally wasnt completely bland and i finally felt something for her (it was hatred, but still).
cleo for once had a little more agenda - in every book she was described as cunning or something similar to it, but she never really was, at least in my opinion. magnus was great (which didnt really come as a surprise). i liked felix and amara was an excellent bitch.

This book was amazing! I loved it from start to finish. I find this series to be that just gets better with every book, this series is growing to become one of my all time favorites.
Everything about this book was fantastic, from the twist and turns, to the deception and romance this book was amazing.
I need the next book in my hand right now, I can't believe I have to wait a year before I can finally continue on with this series.
All in all this was just such an amazing book, if you haven't check this series out yet I highly recommend you do.

The angst... the sprinkle of gay....... the unashamed killing of important characters.... the political intrigue....... the pregnancies out of nowhere... the bromances...... the failure to make half of the characters be like fire lord Zuko........ *chef kiss*
