I got absolutely sucked into this book and these characters. I would’ve read it in one sitting if I hadn’t had to sleep. I LOVE Helen Hoang’s writing, and I LOVE these characters! I literally screamed a few times over how sweet and thoughtful Khai is. I’m ready to go to the library and get The Heart Prinicple!!

Omigod!! I loved this book so much my heart could burst. The main characters are so wonderful and wholesome, it's made me fall madly in love with both of them. It's such a terrific romance novel, but also unfortunately sucked me back into the whirlpool of love stories. Any more of these and I'll develop an unhealthy obsession with fictional male characters and become a real modern Madame Bovary. Ahhhhh, Helen Hoang, feed me the next one of these!

I love Khai and several character development moments made me cry, but the romance just… wasn’t there. I felt absolutely no chemistry whatsoever which is sad because I really wanted to love this. I think I would have liked this better maybe if it was not a romance, or if it wasn’t so rushed. It ended up feeling like Khai was forced into his feelings, and it never really felt like My was being genuine or honest. I think this particular pairing could only have worked if it was a very slow burn where Khai was given a chance to figure out how he felt and what he wanted without everyone within a 2 mile radius pushing on him, and My was given a chance to be honest and come into her own confidence and decide on her own beliefs instead of just going along with others ideas, and they could have actually grown to know each other and love each other beyond sexual attraction.

I feel like they didn’t know literally anything about each other by the end of the book… I am not convinced Esme even liked Khai let alone loved him. She came across as really selfish and didn’t seem to care to get to know him at all. Khai was obsessed with her for sure, but it was mostly sexual. Not sure how much he actually loved her either.

I don’t like that til the very end it felt like everyone was deciding for Khai, telling Khai how he felt, insisting Khai do things he doesn’t want, forcing Khai to rush his feelings and his decisions. He’s not a child, he’s a grown man, and even if he were a child he would still be entitled to his own thoughts and feelings and decisions. Someone being autistic doesn’t give everyone else the right to decide for them, to tell them how they feel, to force them into what they think is best.

I don’t know. I can see what the author was trying to do and I wanted to love this so much…I just didn’t.

I remember really enjoying The Kiss Quotient so I was excited about this audiobook but this one was just not for me. There is miscommunication and then there is NO communication. It is really hard to root for a couple who can’t effectively communicate whatsoever. It made the story very frustrating. The 3rd act break up truly made up 1/3 of the book and it felt like it would never end.
